Just Another Petaluma Drunk Driver…Sigh

According to one of this morning’s police reports:

Location: 100 block of Petaluma Blvd. North

Crime: 23152 (a) (b) CVC, Drunk Driving

Incident: Suspect was involved in a traffic collision that resulted in his arrest for DUI.

Suspect: Jason Lopez, 22 years old, Petaluma Resident

On February 15, 2016, at approximately 1:38 am, Petaluma Police received several 911 calls of a vehicle that had crashed into a building in the 100 block of Petaluma Blvd N. Officers arrived and found a vehicle had driven into the display window of a closed business. The vehicle came to rest a few feet into the business. The vehicle and business both sustained major damage. The City of Petaluma Building Inspector responded to the scene and based on the damage red tagged the business until repairs could be made.

Lopez remained at the scene and was contacted by officers. Lopez and his passenger were uninjured from the collision. While speaking with him, Officers could smell the odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. A DUI investigation was initiated and Lopez was found to be operating his vehicle while intoxicated. He was arrested without incident. Lopez submitted to a breath test with the result of .20% BAC.

Lopez was booked at the Sonoma County Jail and held on $5,000 bail.”

  1. Great photos, Frank! I was surprised that there is a franchise business called 1-800-Board Up. He has his hands full with this one. I was also surprised that the bail was so low. Mr. Lopez is a danger to life and limb when he drives drunk.

    • The driver is in jail…Nobody hurt…Store is being rebuilt…in the meantime they are open for business…selling out of their backdoor 🙂

  2. I’m glad no one was hurt! It’s quite a crash. The driver really tore that place up. Hopefully, he’ll get some help with the drinking. Wow, he was lucky.
