Petaluma’s Newest Mural…by Maxfield Bala

While I generally only post on the 1st of each month, today I will make an exception!

The current edition of the Petaluma Argus Courier contains a front page article on the latest public mural by a local artist, Maxfield Bala.  It is indeed quite a project.  The article mentions the artist having to work on a difficult surface in that the site was corrugated metal.  Well, you have to see it to believe it.

In addition to the uneven corrugated surface, several of the panels had gaps or overlaps in the joints. Yet he pulled it off!  I have been following the progress over the last few days, and I think he has finished.  Although I wonder if he may intend to do the entire building 🙂

First, a photo of what I believe to be the finished mural…

Fire & Fire Season in Sonoma!

Around 3:00 pm today we left Sonoma on our way back to Petaluma. Shortly after leaving Sonoma, we noticed smoke in the hills (Coastal Mountains, if you must). As we got closer to Petaluma and Adobe Road we had a closer view of the scene…As close as we ever want to be.

We noted quite a few Petaluma Fire Units on the road  and perhaps one CDF truck

REMINDER–When you hear sirens, pull over!!!!!  Also suggest turning on your emergency blinkers to alert those people behind you that are too busy with their Smartphones.

Quality is not the best as I was shooting through the car windows…and no I was not the driver.
