Day Tripping…Mendocino County

From time to time we take on the role of Road Warriors and explore some of the Blue Highways of California’s North Coast.  Ocasionally, it happens accidentally.

Recently we set out with a specific restaurant destination in Mendocino County in mind.  As events would have it (the restaurant was closed), we opted instead to turn the trip into an exploration of some of the back roads on the way to the coast and back home, eventually, to Petaluma.

Along the way we encountered zebras and other exotics grazing at an animal preserve in Point Arena, CA and open range cattle grazing on the cliffs of Mendocino County overlooking the ocean.  It was not the day we planned, but perhaps all the better because it wasn’t.
